Cartographic Publishing House (CPH) is a first-class state-owned organization, it’s directly under Ministry Of Natural Resources And Environment. It’s established according to decision number 18/QĐ-ĐC, signed on 01/28/1995 by Land Servey Head Department, It operate within the ideas culture field, the manufacture bussiness field in a national scale that it’s in areas: publishing, establishing and printing: the map genres, the atlas, the law document, the books, the major document and other publications, serving to manage: the resources, the environments, the social needs and raising intellectual standards of people.

Nowaday,  CPH has 460 workers, in there: two PhDs, 9 MScs, 150 engineers, 100 technicians and other works.  CPH is a organization that the cartographic professional staff is the most vigorous in VietNam.

>> The functions and missions of CPH:

According to dicision number 37/2004/QĐ – BTNVMT on 12/23/2004 of Ministry Of Natural Resources And Environment laid down, CPH has the functions and missions as the following:

1. Executing the missions that it’s entrusted by Ministry Of Natural Resources And Environment about the map publishing and printing fields in the nationalwide.

2. Publishing the law documents, the books, the major documents. And serving to manage disseminate the law, the science and technology, the information that it propagandize at the resources and environment.

3. Producing, printing and publishing: the terrain maps, the land-servey maps, the administrative maps, the base maps; the other maps, the atlas, the global. It’s published as paper maps, in CD disk, on internet, or on the other means of communications. Within the mark to serve for asking about the land resources, the water resources, the mineral, the environment, the hydrometeorology and the land servey. It serve to the targets: the politics, the economy, the culture, the society, the science and technology. And it serve to improve the intellectual standards of the people.

4. Collecting and classifying the publishing needs of the organizations and everyone. It report the publishing plan to Ministry Of Natural Resources And Environment, Ministry Of Culture And Information for approving.

5. Establishing the administrative border maps and the documents; the administrative maps of administrations levels; marking the boundaries and planning of the lands; Correcting the terrain maps, measuring and establishing the land servey maps.

6. Appied reseaching and making over; giving expert advices and serving the sources in the servey field, the map field, the land managing field, environment, geographic information; creating the geographic databases.

7. Printing and publishing the books, the magazines, the calendards, the labels, etc.. to serve the needs at home and abroad.

8. Trading the products, the devices, the materials and serving the documents, technologies that they’re uesed to the map field, the printing field, the publishing field and the advertising field.

9. Training and Retraining the works to improve the professional skill and to step up the technology in the land servey, the map publishing and the map printing.

10. Participating to create the managing documents, the norms, the technical standards that they belong to the map fields.
